Prevent Homepage Hijacking
Here are
two little registry files that will lock and unlock your homepage setting
in Internet Explorer
Click on them to download then run the respective lock or unlock. Remember
to set the homepage before you run the lock, I personally like blank as
it is a time waster waiting for the same old page to load every time I
start the browser.
Download and save both files, set your brower homepage to whatever url
you want then run homepagelock.reg, if you ever want to change it just
run homepageunlock.reg
*Note for Windows 95-98 users, this may not work for you but there is a cure especially if you have inadvertantly loaded up some spyware. Download all present critical updates available from Microsoft. Then change registry "Dword" as below
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\ZONES\0\1004 change the Dword value to 3
It might
also be prudent to virus scan your computer you can use either or both
free online scans from one of the free online scanners
below.
Downloading and installing Spybot
Search and Destroy can prevent many future problems blocking much
of the spyware that is out there.
