C22H32N5O19P
This is a chemical beta endotoxin that the gram positive Bacillus
Thuringiensis Berliner produces.
Other forms of BT, such as kerstaki, Israelensis, Tenebrionis, Azawai,
also produce these crystaline delta endotoxins. BT Also produces acutely
toxic alpha exotoxins.
The action of this endotoxin is like an acid that primarily burns through
the stomach lining and cell walls, producing a leak of the stomach contents
into the body cavity.
This allows the stomach alkalines (in an insect) to attack and dissolve other organs, causing
in addition, a peritonic septicemic infection.
Whilst the stomach cannot hold the alkaline the host is rendered unable
to get nutrition from eating and will starve as well as suffer from
inner tissue and organ damage.
Smaller creatures such as the moth will die a relatively quick but painful
death if they do register pain.
As with most toxins there will be a bodyweight/amount/death ratio relative
to all insects and animals. As little as 4 nanograms of pure lipopolysaccharide
per kilogram will cause a 2ºC rise in temperature from human immune
response within several hours.
The
following information has not been made publicly available by any authority
or any public organisation or any manufacturer.
Increased production of crystaline toxin is great cause for concern
considering the lack of information on either short term or long term
effects and especially in light of the only credible tests in 1999 stating
as follows:"Bt-toxins are actual and potential allergens for
human beings. Field workers exposed to Bt spray experienced allergic
skin sensitization and induction of IgE and IgG antibodies to the spray,
a Bt strain that caused severe human necrosis (tissue death) killed
mice infected through the nose within 8 hours, from clinical toxic-shock
syndrome". (if in doubt google it yourself)
There have been no, "official" publicly declared, conclusive,
tests done as to how this toxin effects the human body either short
term or long term nor any publicly declared tests to measure tolerable
amounts or limits of exposure.
The
Toxin is not the only, or necessarily the, major cause for concern,
the fact that the genetically altered bacillus variants have any number
of other bacterial and viral genes such as E-coli, Staphylococcus Aureus,
Meningitis, hepatitis, attached to the DNA strand is an even greater
threat to nature and humankind potentially a very dangerous nano technology.
(said to only increase toxicity and antibiotic resistance)
In
addition to deliberate GE alteration are findings that baccillus thuringiensis,
bacillus cereus, and bacillus anthracis have been exchanging their toxin
genes, common indicators being diagnosed as food poisoning and anthrax.
The fact that the BT also has the ability to produce the same plasmids
matching Anthrax and Cereus is a major cause for concern.
Food
for thought:
When we think of the word Nano technology, if we know that Nano is pretty
small, the tendancy is to think in terms of very small machines with
tiny people in them that will travel into an ailing body and fix whatever
they find wrong.
Nano technology is technology on an extremely small scale, but is not
confined to mechanical or electronic fields.
Most importantly it includes the altering of genetic material so that
it will act like a little remote controlled bomb that will go off when
certain conditions are met, or a button is pushed to send a signal that
will activate it.
Bacillus Thurengiensis mutations are one such "Nano" time
bomb. The spore is impervious to entry by heat, radiation, and antibiotics,
certain antibiotics may even trigger it into germination and the production
of the endotoxin which presents both the toxic bacterial or viral gene
and the chemical exotoxin to the site of infection.
Naturally occuring Bacillus thuringiensis is relatively harmless in
the human gut in small amounts as it requires an alkaline environment
to trigger germination, however it can restrict lung function and may
add to other conditions over an abnormal period of exposure, but normally
there are insufficient numbers of spores to be significantly noticeable
in the short term.
Genetically altered BT has two sets of genes which means not only may
it be triggered by the original BT condition for germination, it also
may activate by whichever sets of conditions the additional bacterial
or viral addition is activated by.
A common condition activating viruses and bacteria is "Quorum sensing"
when population becomes great enough the spore activates when numbers
are near great enough to overcome immune response. Quorum sensing is
a recognised scientific fact even though the mechanism is not generally
acknowledged nor taken into account by scientists in the field of genetics
or pesticidal toxin production.
BT is well known for the endotoxin it produces, couple this with the
exotoxins in other bacterial, viral or even fungal material and we have
a recipe for epidemic.
